This and That

I live in Greenfield with my husband and cat. I work full time. Frugality and simplicity have been a part of my life long before they became popular and it has made life a lot less stressful. I love volunteering, home improvement/decorating, crafting and gardening.

Christmas Shopping

If you were one of the many shoppers who stood in line, stayed up late or got up early to hit the sales on Black Friday, good for you.  I hope you got some great deals.  I will never do it; never have; never will.  But, that's my choice.  The deals are meant to "lure" customers into a store so they buy more.  Then again, you can get some good deals if you stick to your budget and don't buy on impulse.  That's what the big box stores want you to things you may not have intended to purchase.  I'm old fashioned - don't appreciate the greed and I want, I want, I want of Christmas.  I do like the time spent with family and friends - handmade gifts, homemade goodies, sharing with others and just the "colors" of the holidays.

Try to get out and enjoy the beautiful Christmas displays that so many people take the time to set up around and on their homes.  Don't forget Candy Cane Lane in West Allis.  If you can, walk through it - you'll get to see each and every display up close and personal.

For the past several years, there have been a few homes that set up their lights to Christmas music - WOW.  The areas vary from year to year.

What used to be M & I Bank downtown used to have a free to the public Christmas display in their lobby - it has always been great to go see for adults and children.  I'm not sure if they will still be doing this now that they have changed to a different banking establishment.

Christmas can be a stressful time - so much to do.  Take time for yourself.  Don't be afraid to say No if you're being pulled in all different directions or being pressured to spend more money than you have.   The economy is still very, very shakey.  People are still out of work and still losing jobs.  None of us are safe or secure in our jobs anymore.  Times have changed.

Christmas is supposed to be a joyous holiday - make it so. Little Surprises can be just as exciting as Big ones.

Merry Christmas
