Laura's Corner

I work very hard and am attending college to obtain my degree in the Human Service field. Writing makes me feel alive and gives me the opportunity to touch those whom I would not be able to otherwise. Last but not least, I have been blessed with two amazing daughters who love me completely and support my dreams. Feel free to contact me with questions, concerns or feedback.

Wrapping it up

If anyone hit Black Friday sales, I feel for you.  I, for one, am not one to forgo a good night's sleep.  My Black Friday begins around 10am, give or take.  I leisurely walk through the mall to see if there are any pickings leftover from the scavengars.  Needless to say, there are always a few small things I find here and there.

We are so close to the end of this year.  I have been blessed with 42 years thus far.  By now I should have it somewhat together, which I believe I do.  I have had my share of heartache, bliss and everything in between.  I consider my life an amazing adventure and am looking forward to whatever time I am granted from here on out.

What do I know?  Well, quite a bit.  I tend to consider myself a pro on a few things.  I know who I am, I like myself and am blessed with good health.  Overall, life is good and I can't wait to experience new and exciting adventures.

What I know best is this:  people have the right to choose whatever path they desire.  I have absolutely no right to interject my opinion unless asked.  I may think I know best, yet, in all actuality, I really only know best for me.  I am learning and will continue to readjust my frame of mind according to experiences.  What I believed about love at the age of 18 is approximately 75% different than today.  Friendship is something which remains.  Regardless of time or distance, those who know and love you will eventually find their way back.  It is important, over time, to keep an open mind.  Each path you cross gives you the opportunity to learn even more about yourself.  We are tested along the way by people, places and things.  It is within my power to make or break someone's day.  Faith is an established sense at a very young age.  Empathy and compassion are ingrained.  They can be stripped through negative experiences yet can be re-established by one person who invests in another.

Each and every one of us deserves happiness.  Peace and joy come from within, not from another person.  Love is possible and earned through a loving, trusting, giving, compassionate relationship.  Without it, we are truly living less than.

We are meant to relate.  We are conceived and were grown within a human body.  Many have convinced themselves that they are a-ok living alone.  To forgo a life partner is to forgo the chance to have another walk along side you when times are good and not so good.  Regardless of heartache, there is nothing greater than being in love, looking forward to someone special and, most important, hugs, kisses and the everything which follows.  This is the exact reason we move forward and open our hearts over and over again.

Wrapping it up, this year and the years prior.  Not just gifts but life in general.  Instead of making resolutions, why not just add something or someone good to your life?  Start small.  Do something, anything, which makes you happy.    Re-establish your relationships.  Tell each and every single person who truly loves you how much they mean.  Forgo waiting until tomorrow, next month or next year.  You deserve it today.

To each and every person who reads and comments, thank you.  You are the reason I continue to write.
