I live in Greenfield with my husband and cat. I work full time. Frugality and simplicity have been a part of my life long before they became popular and it has made life a lot less stressful. I love volunteering, home improvement/decorating, crafting and gardening.
We live in a society where we are judged by the amount of money we make, how much money we have, how big out homes are, what type of vehicle we drive, how expensive or cool our clothes are and so forth.
At least 2 to 3 times per week, I check out QVC or HSN - we usually purchase our electronics from them. I am always tempted to buy new pots and pans from one of the many "chefs" who sell their products....I also LOVE the Temp-tations table settings. However, I realize I can save my money because I don't need these items and certainly don't have room for them since downsizing from our home a few years ago. I have 2 sets of dishes - everyday and a beautiful handpainted set from my grandma for special occasions. The only problem with the special dishes is I cannot put them in my dishwasher so whenever we have guests, I have to wash the dirty dishes by hand. No problem - reminds me of the many, many times my grandma, mom and I would wash and dry the dishes after grandma made a delicious meal for the family in the past. My pots and pans were purchased prior to my getting married so many years ago and they still serve their purpose...hold the heat well and are a brand name. No need for replacements that probably won't last as long - in spite of the fact that they are "so expensive" and should last forever. I even have two of my slow cookers that were given to us for our wedding - used a lot and still work well.
As I browse the stores, I marvel at all the beautiful (and expensive) holiday decorations. I think about how I can do the same type of decorations for a lot less. Here's some ideas:
Over the past several years, I have found that AT & T has customer service reps that are clueless and/or down right liars. What a joke trying to deal with them. Been going round and round with them for the past 2 weeks - they say they will call back and never do; they offer "deals" but claim they never offered "that deal"; they say they tape all conversations but then when I asked them to review the tape of my conversation with one of their reps regarding the "deal" he offered me, they said they didn't tape "that call"; they make you wait and wait on the line and then you get disconnected after waiting and waiting; you get switched from department to department and have to constantly repeat the situation to each and every person you spoke with previously. I would not have my job if I treated my customers like that!
