Teens involved in accidental stabbing

A 15-year-old boy was taken to Children's Hospital early this morning after an accidental stabbing in the 2200 block of South 96th Street.

According to a police report, the boy and a 16-year-old girl were playing with a knife about 3:20 a.m. when the boy was stabbed in the chest. The boy told police he tripped on his pants leg, while the girl said she accidentally stabbed him.

The boy's injuries were not life-threatening and he declined to pursue charges, police Capt. Bill Kreuser said.

Police forwarded the investigation to Child Protective Services
