West Allis — A store employee was shot  during a robbery Saturday and later died, West Allis police said.

West Allis Police Capt. Charles Padgett said that an employee of the sports and urban clothing store Dame's Spot, 1031 S. 60th St., was shot Saturday afternoon inside the store.

The employee then exited the store and collapsed on the sidewalk outside, Padgett said. Police received the call at 1:23 p.m. When authorities arrived, Padgett said, they transferred the victim to Froedtert Hospital, where the employee was pronounced dead.

As of Saturday evening, the name and age of the victim were not available because the victim's family was still being notified, Padgett said.

Police do not think that any other people were inside the store when the shooting occurred, Padgett said.

The suspects have not been identified, but Padgett said that there were up to four people involved, and that they were seen fleeing the scene in a dark or black sports utility vehicle.

Padgett said no one was able to report a license plate number for that vehicle.
