Woodman's wants to go to West Milwaukee

Woodman's, the Janesville-based grocery chain, is looking at a site in West Milwaukee, southeast of Miller Park, for a third store in the metro area.

Woodman's has a huge supermarket in Oak Creek and another under construction in Menomonee Falls. The company hopes to open the Falls store on Nov. 1.

The West Milwaukee site is between National and Greenfield Avenues, and west of S. 41st St. But so far, the company hasn't been able to strike a deal with the multiple property owners involved with the 20 acres, Clint Woodman said.

Woodman talked about the plan in response to my questions. The company has not made an announcement of the plan.

The site now has industrials buildings and a former Sentry store that would need to be demolished if Woodman's acquired the land. The company is interested in the site because it would be halfway between the Oak Creek and Menomonee Falls locations, Clint Woodman said.
