New program at Whitnall High School offers job skills, pay, diploma

Feb. 26, 2013

Whitnall High School will offer students the chance to earn high school credits while learning skills and a paycheck at local businesses through the Second Chance Partners for Education program the Whitnall School Board approved Monday.

Students will apply for the program in which they will start school at an education center in the businesses at 7 a.m. They then will spend the afternoon working and learning on the floor of the manufacturing site. Many times students are offered jobs at the companies where they work after they graduate from high school.

Students in the program will receive diplomas from Whitnall.

Second Chance Partners for Education is already in many other school districts, including West Allis-West Milwaukee.
