Help to lower
body mass index
West Allis - The West Allis Health Department officials want to increase the percentage of area adults classified as having a healthy weight, measured by body mass indexes of 18.5 to 24.9.
Currently, only 23 percent meet that healthy standard. The department wants to see that number jump to 37 percent. So, it is inviting everyone to stop by the department, 7120 W. National Ave., to have their BMI measured privately and pick up healthy tips and nutrition information.
The program starts April 1, the first day of National Public Health Week. The department is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays and residents of West Allis or West Milwaukee may come anytime. No appointments are necessary.
