No sex charge

for police detective

West Allis - The West Allis Police detective who was arrested for fourth-degree sexual assault and misconduct in public office was charged with obstructing an officer, a misdemeanor, by the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office.

Detective Bradley Sterling is on paid administrative leave pending the conclusion of an internal process regarding circumstances surrounding the situation, Police Chief Charles Padgett said in a press release.

The arrest was the result of a joint investigation by district attorney investigators and the administration of the West Allis Police Department.

Home invasion

results in shooting

West Allis - An attempted robbery and shooting occurred at a residence in the 1400 block of 59th Street shortly before 4 a.m. March 28.

The residents told police that a man brandishing a handgun forced his way into the home and several occupied bedrooms and demanded money and guns. One of the occupants fought with the man and was shot in the arm.

The man fled after that. The shooting victim was treated at a nearby hospital and released.
