Man who struck squad car arrested for drunken driving

A 33-year-old Greenfield man was arrested for drunken driving after he struck a police car on South 51st Street on May 25.

According to the police report:

The squad car driven by a Greenfield police officer, who had parked his squad car on South 51st Street at West Midland Drive to assist another officer with a traffic stop shortly before 1 a.m., was sideswiped on the driver's side by another vehicle. Fortunately, the squad car was unoccupied at that moment.

The driver, a 33-year-old Greenfield man, was arrested for drunken driving and cited for inattentive driving and failure to have control of a vehicle. His preliminary blood alcohol content was 0.16.

Police arrest three tied to area thefts

Greenfield police have arrested three suspects in connection with a rash of thefts from vehicles and garages in Greenfield.

Two 23-year-old men and a 22-year-old woman were arrested May 28 and taken into custody.

The thefts, which all occurred between May 22 and 23, included a GPS unit taken from a vehicle in the 4100 block of South 67th Street and a bicycle taken from a garage in the 6500 block of West Plainfield Avenue.

One of the 23-year-old Milwaukee men was arrested for receiving stolen property and credit card fraud. The 22-year-old woman was arrested for being party to a crime and possession of heroin.

The third suspect, a 23-year-old Milwaukee man, was arrested for obstruction of police after he fled officers during questioning. He was also taken into custody for an open warrant with Probation and Parole.

Additional charges against the three suspects are pending the outcome of a police investigation.
