Alleged robber used BB handgun in Kmart lot

A 19-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested after he tried to rob a man in the Kmart parking lot on Oct. 2.

According to the Greenfield police log:

The victim was walking towards his car at Kmart, 4601 S. 27th St., at 9:16 p.m. when a man approached him and lifted up his shirt to reveal a handgun in his waistband. The suspect fled the parking lot after a bystander witnessed the incident and started running toward him.

Police located the suspect hiding by the trash bins behind Supreme Gas. The weapon, a BB gun, was found nearby.

He was arrested for attempted armed robbery and transported to the Milwaukee County Jail.

Skateboarder breaks leg in car collision

A 19-year-old Greenfield man was transported to Froedtert Hospital with a broken leg after he collided with a car while skateboarding across a street at 11:37 a.m. Oct. 1.

According to the accident report:

The man was on a skateboard traveling northbound on the sidewalk on South 27th Street when he entered the crosswalk at the 27th Street off-ramp of Interstate 43 and was struck by a vehicle. The driver of the car, a 28-year-old Franklin woman, had exited the freeway on the off-ramp and struck the man while she was attempting to turn right.

The woman told police she slowed down or came to a stop prior to making the turn, and stated she did not see the skateboarder before proceeding.

She was cited for failure to yield the right of way to a pedestrian and no insurance. The Greenfield man was also cited for disregarding a traffic signal.
