Police Report: May 7

Pry marks were found on the service door to a garage in the 5100 block of South Hidden Drive at 5:55 p.m. May 2. The resident stated the marks were not there a week ago. The log book did not state whether entry was gained or items were stolen from the garage.

A contractor called police to report tools stolen from a home in the 9300 block of West Layton Avenue at 11:30 a.m. May 3.

A man was found rummaging through the manager's desk and employees' personal belongings in the "employee's only" area at Plato's Closet, 7820 W. Layton Ave., at 8:15 a.m. May 4. The man fled when he was discovered. The police log did not state what was stolen.


Undisclosed items were stolen out of a service van in the 3600 block of West Mangold Avenue between the evening hours of April 28 and 8 a.m. April 29.

Golf clubs were stolen out of a garage in the 3800 block of South 35th Street prior to 12:45 p.m. April 29. The resident told police he was in his front yard when the clubs were stolen.

A woman reported her wallet was stolen from the BP gas station, 4715 S. 27th St., at about 6:35 a.m. April 30.

A ring was stolen at 3 p.m. April 30 from a home in the 11100 block of West Armour Avenue. The ring disappeared sometime between April 6 and April 30.

A cell phone was reported stolen at Greenfield High School, 4800 S. 60th St., at about 2 p.m. May 1.

A man shoplifted an undisclosed amount of merchandise at Kmart, 4601 S. 27th St., at 5:30 p.m. May 3. The suspect, wearing a blue and white jacket and baseball cap, fled in a red Scion.

A man called police to report his 2003 black Toyota Rav4 was stolen from his home in the 7100 block of West Forest Home Avenue at 1:20 p.m. May 4. The caller told police he picked up a female the night before in the area of South 35th Street and West Oklahoma Avenue who then spent the night and took his vehicle without his consent.

A gift card and $200 in cash were stolen from an employee's purse at TGI Fridays, 4638 S. 76th St., at 10:25 p.m. May 4. The victim stated she left her purse in the employee restroom and believes the money and gift card were stolen from her purse during her shift.

A Plymouth Voyager was reported stolen in the 3100 block of West Howard Avenue at 6:15 p.m. May 5.

A We Energies security employee called police to report copper electrical wiring was stolen from a building at Arlington Cemetery, 4141 S. 27th St., at 10:40 p.m. May 5.


Two boys were arrested for battery and criminal damage to property after they allegedly broke into a home in the 4400 block of West Tesch Avenue, beat another boy and stole some change at about 5:05 p.m. April 30.

A 22-year-old woman was arrested for battery and disorderly conduct after fighting with the manager at Burger King, 4651 S. 27th St., at 7:15 p.m. May 2.


Officers responding to a report of several youths tampering with a shed at Greenfield Middle School, 3200 W. Barnard Ave., arrested three boys and one girl for prowling and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia at 8 p.m. April 29.


A man was arrested for drugged driving after a caller reported seeing a driver passed out in his minivan in the 3500 block of South 53rd Street at 11:15 a.m. May 4. A previous caller reported the same minivan was stopped in the middle of the road in the area of Glenwood School prior to the driver's arrest.

A 51-year-old man was arrested for drunken driving in the 4500 block of South 60th Street at 3:45 p.m. May 5. His blood alcohol content was unavailable.


A baby was transported to the hospital for treatment of a neck laceration after a two-car accident on South 108th Street and West Beloit Road at 2:35 p.m. April 30. Details about the accident and citations issued were not released by the Greenfield Police Department.

Numerous people called police after a Mercedes Benz crashed into a fire hydrant in the 9800 block of West Layton Avenue at about 2:45 p.m. May 4. According to the police log, the driver of the Mercedes was racing with the driver of a silver Porsche convertible when the accident occurred. Police located the driver of the Porsche, a 22-year-old man, on South 68th Street and West Allerton Avenue, where he was taken into custody for having two open warrants through the West Allis and Greenfield police departments.


Graffiti was spray-painted on a garage in the 3800 block of South 35th Street between April 27 and April 30.

An officer reported graffiti spray-painted on an Ameritech box in the 3300 block of West Loomis Road at 6:35 p.m. May 1.

A passerby called police to report graffiti on several garages in the 3400 block of West Colony Drive at 9:25 a.m. May 4.


A boy was arrested and cited for disorderly conduct after he swore at another student and called him a derogatory name at Whitnall High School, 5000 S. 116th St., at 2:10 p.m. May 1.

A 29-year-old woman was arrested for disorderly conduct for yelling at a man across a street and causing a disturbance in the 5600 block of South 43rd Street at 7:35 p.m. May 1.

Officers responding to a report of a man attempting to commit fraud at Educator's Credit Union, 4000 W. Loomis Road, arrested a 23-year-old man for obstructing at 3:10 p.m. May 2. The bank manager told police the man had been taking his parents' checks and cashing them without their consent.

A 36-year-old woman was arrested for forgery after she attempted to pass a forged check at a bank in the 7600 block of West Layton Avenue at 5:30 p.m. May 3.

A 20-year-old man was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon after police found brass knuckles in his possession during a traffic stop in the 4600 block of South 76th Street at 4:10 p.m. May 4.

A resident in the 5000 block of South Brookdale Drive reported a wolf or coyote in her yard at 7:40 p.m. May 5. Officers were unable to locate the animal.

Greenfield police responded to three domestic violence calls and assisted with five rescue calls and one fire call between April 29 and May 5.
