Hale boys cross country

The Huskies announced their season awards last week.

The most valuable senior runner was Milan Stojanovic, while Tony Lozano won the award for juniors, Daniel Nelson for sophomores and Aaron Wojtysiak for freshmen.

The most improved veteran runner was Clive Miller and the most improved newcomer was Danny Cupertino.

Captains for 2012 were Stojanovic, Sam Gagliano and Robert Effinger. Captains for 2013 will be Tim Ebben and Lozano.

Greater Metro Conference Scholar-Athletes were Gagliano, Effinger and Miller.

Head coach Ron Kurtz said his team went 108-14, and all losses were to teams rated in the top 13 in the state. The Huskies also beat 19 state-ranked squads.

The Huskies graduate Stojanovic, Gagliano and Effinger but return four state runners. They can also draw from a junior varsity team that beat 95 foes.

Greenfield girls volleyball

The Hustlin' Hawks fared well in all-Woodland Conference balloting this season.

Jessica Kalous was named the player of the year in the East Division and made first-team all-division, along with Luci Krenzke and Lauren Bullock.

Sarah Habermahl was second-team all-division and Sam DeLeon and Katarina Djurica earned honorable mention.

Kalous was also on the all-Woodland first team (both divisions) and Krenzke and Bullock on the second team.

Greenfield finished 29-9 in duals, including 9-1 in the Woodland East for first place.

West Allis boys soccer

Antonio Rodriguez of West Allis Hale was named to the first all-Greater Metro Conference team in soccer this season.

Rodriguez, a senior midfielder, was the lone West Allis player on either the first or second teams of the GMC.

Earning honorable mention were junior midfielder Bobby Saskowski of Hale, senior defender Alex Kaul of Hale, junior forward Mike Manlick of West Allis Central and senior goalkeeper Aaron Gaglione of Central.

Greenfield boys soccer

Dusan Ogjanovic of Greenfield made the second all-Woodland Conference team in soccer this season.

Ogjanovic, a senior midfielder for the Hustlin' Hawks, is their lone representative on the first or second all-Woodland teams.

Earning honorable mention were David Castillo, a sophomore forward, sophomore defender Stephen Lisiecki and junior goalkeeper Brett Szalaczinski.

Whitnall boys soccer

Junior forward Petar Miskov was named to the all-Woodland Conference second team in soccer this season.

Earning honorable mention were junior midfielder Bryan Domitrz, freshman midfielder Joe Schauer, senior defender Zach Barnhart and junior defender Chris Kelnhofer.

In addition, Kyler Chelminiak was named a Woodland Conference scholar-athlete.
