Greenfield High schedules boys basketball camp series

Greenfield High School will host summer boys basketball camps again this year.

The shooting camp is set for July 13 to 16, from 1 to 3 p.m. while the basic skills camp is July 20 to 23, from 1 to 3 p.m.

A defensive camp is slated for July 28 to 30, from 1 to 3 and a scoring camp Aug. 3 to 6, from 1 to 3 p.m.

The cost is $70 for each camp or all four for $260. All camps are held at the high school and directed by head boys coach Jim Nowak.

Whitnall football program seeking assistant coaches

Whitnall High School football coach Rob Leboeuf is seeking enthusiastic individuals to help coach his program.

Preserve at Deer Creek seeking senior golfers

The Preserve at Deer Creek, 4285 S. Sunny Slope Road, New Berlin, is looking for senior men and women to join its Wednesday golf club.

Greenfield players compete in softball all-star games

Greenfield infielder Stacey Butts and outfielder Sarah Fisher were picked for the Wisconsin Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association Senior All-Star Series held June 16 at Zenoff Park in Stevens Point.

Players were nominated by their head coach and then selected by the WFSCA. Head coaches must be current members of the association to nominate players.

A total of 141 seniors were named to 12 different teams. The Lions were on the Division 2 Black team.

Butts and Fisher were on the Division 1 Blue team. Butts was 1-for-1 with three RBIs in the Blue Team's 4-0 win over the Black Team. Fisher was 0-for-3.

In a 6-3 loss to the Red Team, Butts and Fisher were a combined 0-for-6

Lady T-Birds seeking golfers for Thursday league

The Lady T-Birds Golf League of Greenfield Park is looking for members for the 2009 spring/summer season.

The nine-hole league began play May 7 and runs through Sept. 17. Tee times range from 8:30 to 10 a.m.

16U Competitors team seeks fast-pitch players

The Competitors 16U fast-pitch softball team has openings on its 2009 team.

The Competitors play in the Metro Milwaukee Fast-pitch Softball League and in five tournaments during the summer. They are looking for girls who play any position and are from any community in the metro Milwaukee area. Players who were 16 years old or younger on Jan. 1, 2009 are eligible.

Gosz basketball camps scheduled for June, July

The 15th annual Jim Gosz Basketball Camps will be held June 29 to July 2, at St. Monica School, Whitefish Bay; July 6 to 9, July 20 to 23 and July 27 to 30 at Blessed Sacrament School, Milwaukee; and July 13 to 16 at St. Leonard's School, Muskego.

Milwaukee Bucks plan summer camps for youth

The Milwaukee Bucks are offering a series of summer basketball camps for boys and girls in grades two through eight.

Monday-through-Thursday sessions will run from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. as follows: July 13 to 16, Bucks Training Facility (St. Francis); July 20 to 23, Bucks Training Facility (St. Francis); July 27 to 30, Heritage Christian School (West Allis); and Aug. 3 to 6, Nicolet High School (Glendale).

The camps will be directed by Aaron Sovern, who has directed youth basketball camps for over 13 years. The camps' priorities will be confidence building, sportsmanship values, academic encouragement, team play and basic basketball skill development.

The camp fee of $150 includes a Bucks practice jersey, a basketball, a free ticket to a 2009-10 Bucks preseason and regular-season home game, a visit from a Bucks player, former player or assistant coach during the week, Bucks prizes, an online photo with camp team and coach, a certificate and awards ceremony and 2009-10 Bucks special offers and benefits.

Registration in progress for three-on-three tourney

Registration has begun for the DJ's Court Tourney, a three-on-three, co-ed basketball tournament to benefit the Christine Rathke Memorial Fund.

The 16-team, double-elimination tourney will be played from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Aug. 1, in the Southwood Glen Elementary School. The fee is $60 per team. Each team is allowed one substitute for a total of four players.
